This is a Dervish/Necro build centered around Armor of Sanctity and Tainted Flesh {E}.

Mysticism: 11+1
Earth Prayers: 11+1+3
Death Magic: 8

Skills:

Armor of Sanctity
Conviction
Tainted Flesh {E}
Heart of Holy Flame
Signet of Pious Light
Faithful/Watchful Intervention
Mystic Corruption
other skill

Gear: Armor set that gives you +10 AL while enchanted or against physical, Zealous Axe of Enchanting (or Defense or Shelter) with +5e, shield with -2 stance (since Conviction is a stance) and -2 enchanted (you only get partial AL from shield) or focus with armor and recharge bonuses

Here's some it works. Tainted Flesh gives enemies the Diseased condition if they strike you in melee and Armor of Sanctity gives you -20 damage reduction from foes suffering from a condition. Remember Diseased is contagious, so as long as one enemy strikes you, the others will likely get this condition also. Note also that there're no evasion skills, the point is to have enemies hit you.

But don't worry, because besides the -20 damage reduction, you have lots of armor. Conviction gives you +24 AL at all times, and so does your armor, which gives you 80 AL, for a combined 104 AL at the very least, not counting weapon/focus/shield bonuses.

As an added safety, cast Faithful/Watchful Intervention prior to engaging the enemy, but more often than not, you're probably not going to need it. The Heart of Holy Flame and Signet of Pious Light combo heals you for 135hp every 15 seconds, and deals 100 armor-ignoring damage plus setting the enemies on fire for 6 seconds (2 extra seconds from Mystic Corruption).

Energy management shouldn't be a problem since most are 5 energy spells and you have Mysticism and Zealous mod to help you with energy. The spells also have very short cast times, so they're hard to interrupt.

Well, there you have it! It's a build for farming melee type monsters. Happy hunting!

Just out of curiousity, where do you cap Tainted Flesh in Elona without going all the way to Perdition Rock?

In addition, I've seen a lot of different builds with elites that are not originally from Elona, i.e. Grenth's Balance, Tainted Flesh, Icy Veins, etc. How do you guys get the Necro or other profession elites for your Dervish without actually going all the way to Tyria or Cantha to cap them?

Tainted Flesh can be capped in Elona just outside the first city/outpost on mainland. The other 2 elites you mention im not sure where in Elona they are.

Then there are people that blast thruu content & do cap elites on other continents.

Yep Tainted flesh is in the marga coast zone, it is along the south western coast of the zone. this is because it is actually a core skill and will be in all the chapters somewhere

For the addition slot I would suggest Staggering Force to add damage and damage reduction to the build.

Or get armor +10 while in stance (i think its a general insignia, if not forget comment), since u are always using Conviction (stance)
